Project ID: 103
Title Pacific Radio Archive - DAVID RICQUISH
DESCRIPTION  Creation of an on-line free public access archive of all aspects of broadcasting in the Pacific. Special emphasis is placed on Australia, NZ, Pacific Islands, Hawaii, but the project also includes content from the Pacific Rim countries, and other countries with direct broadcasting links with the Pacific region. Collections include ephemera and sound audio, and provide a basis for ongoing research and on-line publishing of stories, images and other content. Radio heritage documentaries [approaching 20 x 20 minute programs] are broadcast regularly over Radio NZ International. The project is a collaboration between broadcasters, listeners, the general public and others interested in any aspect of radio broadcasting in the region. Themes include: US Armed Forces Radio in the region, Art of Radio exhibition series, Long Lost Australian Radio Stars series and Pacific-Asia Radio Station Guides. Protection of heritage radio buildings and sites is an associated area of activity. During 2007-2009 a new campaign 'Celebrating Over 85 Years of Popular Kiwi Radio' will travel nationwide to locate and protect broadcasting ephemera. Similar campaigns are scheduled for Australia and throughout the Pacific Islands leading up to the Pacific Radio Conference planned for September 2008.
